The TTC is looking for up to four youth (ages 18 to 29) from across Toronto to join its Youth Ambassador team. The goal of the Youth Ambassadors is to engage their peers and communities about the TTC’s 2027 Annual Network Plan (ANP). The Annual Network Plan provides a roadmap for improvements to surface transit (bus and streetcars) in the coming year.
Feedback gathered by the Youth Ambassadors will complement the broader public engagement process and help inform TTC planning for service improvements in 2027.
We’re looking for youth who:
• Are 18-29 years old
• Care about public transit and its role in their community
• Want to help ensure TTC hears from their neighbours, friends, peers, and other priority audiences as it prepares the 2027 Annual Network Plan
• Are interested in learning new skills, such as creating an engagement plan, collecting feedback, reporting, and presenting.
• Can communicate clearly (written and verbal)
• Are reliable, can work independently, and take initiative
• Can commit to part-time work (10–18 hours/week) from late July to late September, 2026
• Have access to a computer and/or device with a camera and a microphone (to participate in virtual team meetings)
If this sounds like you, and you’re interested in becoming a TTC Youth Ambassador, APPLY NOW! The application deadline is Sunday, July 12, 2026. Scroll down to learn more about the Youth Ambassador Program.
What is the TTC Youth Ambassador program?
The engagement work by the Youth Ambassadors is one way the TTC is working to hear from its diverse customers and bring an equity lens to its service planning, by:
• taking a deliberate approach to engage youth aged 18-29, a demographic that are often under-represented in city-building discussions, and is more likely to participate in focused, peer-led engagement processes; and
• providing paid work and skill development opportunities to youth from across Toronto.
With support from TTC, Third Party Public will lead the Youth Ambassador Program, including recruitment, training, and supporting the Youth Ambassadors for the duration of their work. Third Party Public is an independent engagement team retained by the TTC to support the public engagement process for the 2027 Annual Network Plan.
Objective of the Youth Ambassadors’ Engagement
• Engage and gather feedback from people in their communities about the 2027 Annual Network Plan.
• Aim to gather feedback from a minimum of 40 people, with at least 50% under age 29 and 50% from the priority audiences — women, shift workers, and people with low incomes, who have been identified as TTC customers who heavily relied on the TTC during the pandemic.
• The outcome of the engagement and feedback collected should help the TTC understand their customers thoughts and levels of support for the proposed service changes.
Youth Ambassador’s role and responsibilities are:
• Facilitate/guide the engagement process and collect and summarize feedback. As facilitators, the Youth Ambassadors’ role is to not to advocate for any particular outcome.
• Select an engagement strategy that best aligns with the goals of the 2027 ANP, your preferences and needs of the communities you will engage.
• Lead the implementation of your engagement strategy, including promotional outreach and seeking feedback from your communities about the 2027 ANP over a period of three weeks.
• Document and summarize the results of your engagement strategy following a reporting template.
• Present the results of your engagement to TTC at a debrief meeting.
• Maintain regular communication with Third Party Public and attend meetings.
• Complete tasks on time.
Compensation
Youth Ambassadors’ work will run from late July to late September 2026. Team members will each receive a stipend of $2,000, plus a $500 discretionary disbursement to support their work (such as covering expenses or offering participant incentives).
